NIL stands for Name, Image, and Likeness. Since July 2021, student-athletes can profit from their personal brand — endorsements, merchandise, social media content, autograph signings, and more — without losing their eligibility.
Before NIL, any payment for an athlete’s name or image was considered an eligibility violation. That changed when the NCAA adopted an interim NIL policy and states began passing their own laws.
The NIL landscape has changed dramatically, and most student-athletes are figuring it out one Instagram DM at a time. NBF gives athletes a structured, education-first path into Name, Image, and Likeness — one that prioritizes compliance, long-term brand building, and actual opportunities.
NIL opportunities for student-athletes are available to NBF-supported athletes at the high school, college, and amateur levels (subject to applicable state laws and school policies). We're especially focused on helping under-the-radar athletes — the ones who deserve opportunity but aren't already on a national agent's roster.
